SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING July 6, 2009 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room in Monticello, UT. Present: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chair Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Rick Bailey, SJC Administrator Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shawn, SJC Deputy Clerk Absent: Bruce Adams, Chairman Attendees: Marilyn Boynton, Scott Burton, Howard Randall, Cyndi Eldredge, Larry Sorrell, Lou Muller Cyndi Eldredge – SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to hire Allison Yamamoto as the part time mail clerk for Economic Development. This is a Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Dawnan Wojcik and Jennifer Francom as the part time Blanding Library Assistants with Nicole Perkins and Joshua Anderson as the alternates. These are a Grade 1 Step 1 positions. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Rick Bailey – SJC Administrator Rick presented one building permit for approval and signature. Andrea Edwards – Garage – W Mt. Peale, Spanish Valley A motion to approve the building permit, provided all appropriate signatures are in place, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Open Time and Other Business Lou Muller, Utah State University Extension presented an out of state travel request for the UEAFCS conference in Birmingham, AL in the amount of $1,579. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Greg Adams, SJC Planning and Zoning, reported that there will be a public hearing Thursday night at 7:30 P.M. regarding the evaporation ponds out east. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens reported that he will attend AOG on Thursday where they plan to discuss the sage grouse issue. He stated that he would be absent for next week’s Commission meeting. Commissioner Maryboy reported that he attended CIB last week in Salt Lake and stated the San Juan County Hospital was approved for half of what they asked for. He plans to be in the county all week.
