SAN JUAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING October 13, 2008 The regular meeting of the San Juan County Commission was held at 10:00 A.M. in the Commission Room at Monticello, Utah. Present: Kenneth Maryboy, Vice Chairman Lynn Stevens, Commissioner Tammy Gallegos, SJC Administrative Assistant Norman L. Johnson, SJC Clerk/Auditor Dawn Shaw, SCJ Deputy Clerk Absent: Bruce Adams, Chairman Attendees: Cyndi Eldredge, Linda Larson, Sterling Profaizer, Jim Hook, Alison McCluskey, Lou Mueller, Louise Jones A motion to approve the minutes of October 6, 2008 was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Cyndi Eldredge - SJC Personnel Cyndi presented a request to hire Teresa Gallegos as the Monticello Library Assistant with Heather Earl as the alternate. This is a part time Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Cyndi presented a request to hire Vicky Clark as the Bluff Senior Center Aide. This is a part time Grade 1 Step 1 position. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion. carried. Cyndi presented a job change request for John Laws from Road Deputy to Road Sargent. He will be going from a Step 159 to a Step 174. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Linda Larson - SJC EMS Linda presented an amended contract from Medtronic Physio-Control for approval and signature. Linda states that this is a four year contract that started in 2006 and they are just adding new equipment to it. A motion to approve the contract was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. -1- Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Jim Hook - Bluff Fire Chief Jim Hook, Alison McCluskey, and Sterling Profaizer presented a report to the Commission about the Bluff Community Fire Plan. They explained their ideas and those of land owners along the river. They talked about grants they would like to apply for to receive the help needed on clearing out trees and brush along the river. Commissioners thanked them for coming in and sharing their information with them. Lou Mueller - USU Extension Lou presented an out of state travel request in the amount of $946.51 to Mesa, AZ for the National Native American Fathers and Families Conference. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Louise Jones - SJC Recorder Louise presented a procurement request for a Safco Masterfile filing cabinet from Nationwide Drafting and Office Supply Inc. In the amount of $1998. A motion to approve the request was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Tammy Gallegos - SJC Administrative Assistant Tammy presented two building permits for approval and signature. Ivan Winder - Residence - W. Mt. Peale, Spanish Valley Larry Whittaker - Garage - E. Mesa View Dr, Flat Iron Mesa A motion to approve the building permits, provided all appropriate signatures are in place and all money is collected, was made by Commissioner Lynn Stevens. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy seconded the motion. None opposed. Commissioner Kenneth Maryboy declared the motion carried. Commission Reports Commissioner Stevens reports he was in Salt Lake last week. He will be in the County this week and will meet with the State Librarian on Thursday. Commissioner Maryboy will be in the County this week and plans to attend the Red Mesa Chapter meeting tonight. Adjourn 10:43 A.M. -2-
