CIVIL DEFENSE SECRETARY RESIGNS
(undated)
To the San Juan County Commissioners and the rest of the crew at the Courthouse:
Please forgive this short resignation notice - I hate to admit it even to myself but I have a heart condition and I am getting too tired - I must quit something.
This can be verified at the local doctors office - Ann knows some of the previous difficulties I have had with this heart condition. A big thanks to her for agreeing to change on such short notice.
Something was mentioned about the extra hours I had put in - I hereby donate them to the cause of Civil Defense because we have so much population spread out so far and it is rather a difficult program to get accepted by the citizenry.
If I do not get to the meeting, please express my thanks to the State Group also - even though I
only met most of them by voice - they are sure all right and they have a tremendous task. I'm grateful for the opportunity of feeling that maybe what little I could do helped.
Sincerely,
/s/ Cora H. Smith
The Commissioners instructed the Clerk to send a letter of appreciation to Mrs. Smith.
