It was explained to him that the budget for that purpose had been depleted at present. Mr. Bayles made the motion that the Commissioners set up a yearly budget for the purpose of exposition and at that time determine how it will be used. It was seconded by Mr. Bartell. It was then unanimously agreed that the County would support the Christmas News Mr. Perry will write the Commissioners when pictures will be needed, the billing is to be made in January.

cation was unanimously approved.
Mr. Roy Woods reported that the Reynolds Construction Company hadn't paid for the gravel it had received from the County when constructing the Utah Oil Bulk Station. The amount of gravel obtained was not def-initely known as they did their own loading. The Clerk was directed to write a letter to them at Price, Utah asking them to state the amount obtained so that proper billing could be made.
Mr. Walton reported that Don McPherson had made application to be hired as a full time County Maintenance Man. The road supervisors felt that there wasn't sufficient work to justify hiring a full time mechanic. No hiring was done.
George Barry tendered his resignation as road supervisor for the Eastern District, which was accepted and Lewis Fuller was hired to take his place.
Yearly vacations with pay for County Officials and full time employees was discussed. Mr. Bayles made the motion that beginning as of last Jan-uary 1st all County Officials, full time deputies and other full time em-ployees are to receive a week's vacation with pay after having been in the employ of the County for one year. After having been employed for two years and each year thereafter, there shall be a two weeks vacation with pay. All vacations are to be taken during slack periods when the work can be taken over by other deputies.
Melvin Frost met with the Board and requested that a street be made west of his property on the east boundary of the Fair Grounds and thence west to the Blue Mountain Residential Subdivision. Mr. Bayles made the motion that The San Juan School District, Monticello Town, and other interested persons get together and decide as to what should be done, seconded by Mr. Walton.
Sheriff Seth Wright stated that mattresses and blankets were needed for the jail. The Commissioners agreed that these necessities be obtained.
Mrs. Lucinda Frost and Mrs. D. B. Perkins met with the Board in behalf of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. They asked permission to erect a Pioneer Mon-umenton the Court House Grounds, because it was the original Pioneer Public Square. It is to be of Granite with a Bronze Plaque. The Commissioners unan-imously consented to such erection.
Mr. Morris, County Agent, waited on the Board to ask that the expenses of the 4H boys and girls who went to the State Fair be paid. It was unanimous-agreed that it had been the policy in the past to pay such expenses and should also be done this year.
Mr. Morris also talked about hiring Mr. Lopez for another month. There is sufficient money left in the budget to justify keeping him another month and sufficient work can yet be done to keep him busy. It was unanimously agreed to retain him for another month.
Seth Wright requested that Raymond McAlister be made a full time deputy on the same basis of remuneration as the other deputies. After due consideration Mr. Bayles made the motion that Mr. McAlister be placed on a full time basis as of September 15th.
The following resolution was passed:
"BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of San Juan County give to The State Road Commission and The Bureau of Public Roads, State of Utah, permission to use gravel from the County owned pit near La Sal, for use in graveling roads in San Juan County, without charge to the State."
