MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 28th DAY OF JULY, 1969

Meeting opened at 10:00 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Commissioner Young moved to approve the minutes as read; Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.
KANE SPRINGS ROAD #145-INFORMATION
A copy of a letter from Robert E. Anderson, District Manager of B.L.M. (Monticello District) to the Grand County Commissioners was received by our Commission. This letter carried the information that funds have been obtained to perform preliminary design work on the proposed road from the top of Hatch Point down Trough Canyon and across Kane Springs Canyon to connect with the County road coming out of Moab and up Kane Springs Canyon. A meeting has been set for the morning of July 29th to discuss the best location to cross Kane Springs Gulch.
AIRPORT SITE INVESTIGATION REPORT - CANYONLANDS NATIONAL AIRPORT
A completed report and recommendations was received from the office of Herman M. Maxwell, Chief of Air-ports Branch, Salt Lake City. It was specifically emphasized that the sponsor select another name so as to avoid conflict with the similarly named airport at Moab, Utah.
TOWAOC MEETING REPORT
Commissioner Young reported on the meeting in Towaoc July 22nd. Verle Green will be releived of duties on White Mesa July 31st and the Ute Tribe will furnish a man to take care of that area and will pay ex-penses as they have previously.
DUDE RANCH ROAD - CATTLE DRIVING RESTRICTION
Don Barton met with the Commission to discuss the restriction on driving cattle on the Dude Ranch Road.
The Commissioners informed Mr. Barton that this is a legal matter that they are not able to handle. They also advised him that activities that had formerly been cunducted on the road could still possibly be continued.
QUIT CLAIM DEED EXECUTED to JOSEPH L. and LYMAN DEREECE NIELSON
Upon recommendation of the County Attorney, Commissioner Young moved to execute the following Quit Claim Deed in favor of Joseph L. and Lymen Dereece Nielson, Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it car-ried unanimously:
QUIT CLAIM DEED
SAN JUAN COUNTY, a body corporate and politic of the State of Utah, GRANTOR, hereby quit claims to JOSEPH L. NIELSON and LYMAN DeREECE NIELSON, GRANTEES, of Blanding, San Juan County, State of Utah, for the sum of One Dollar and other good and valuable consideration, the following described tracts of land situated in San Juan County, State of Utah, to-wit:
Township 33 South, Range 24 East, Salt Lake Meridian:
Section 5: NE 1/4 SW 1/4
Section 6: NE 1/4 SE 1/4, SE 1/4 SE 1/4
WITNESS the hand of the said Grantor this 28th day of July , 1969.

T.V. CHANNEL 8 AGREEMENT
Mr. Gene McCloud of San Miguel Electric met with the Commission and offered the following verbal agreement: San Miguel will purchase the necessary material for Channel 8 if San Juan County will install the equipment and maintain it.
This arrangement was satisfactory to the Commissioners and they gave Mr. McCloud the go-ahead on this project.
MISCELLANEOUS
Tom Redd presented a bill in the amount of $57,018.00 covered the 4 new diesel trucks purchased by
the road department.
The Commission approved payment of the bill.
Commissioner Hazleton reported on the first Economic Development District meeting which was held the previous week.
Clem Washburn met with the Commission to discuss steps that might be taken to control and eradicate the prairie dogs with the County.
A Notice of Hearing before the Public Service Commission of Utah on behalf of Empire Electric Assn. was received and posted in a conspicuous place.
