MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 25th DAY OF AUGUST, 1969

Meeting opened at 10:00 0!Clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read. Commissioner Black requested that the entry regarding the Ucolo Road be changed to read: "County funds were held awaiting eligibility of Collector Road Funds". With the foregoing change, Commissioner Young moved that the Minutes be approved; Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

AIRPORT BOARD APPOINTMENTS

A Board having been appointed to study the feasibility of an Airport in the vicinity of San Juan County near to the Grand County line, and it being considered wise to have a 4-man Board with representation by the County Commission of each County, the following names were added: Ralph J. Miller from Grand County and Dale Holmes from San Juan County. The foregoing appointments were unanimously approved by the San Juan County Commission.

Commissioner Black then reported on the meeting held the previous week and the findings of the committee thus far.

CIVIL DEFENSE DIRECTOR REPORTS

Joe Berry reported on his previous weeks activities. With reference to the Shelter Program, each person (or family) will receive a map and instructions within the near future, for his use in case of a nuclear attack. Corps of Engineer men are in the County this week working on Mine Surveys. Two men from the Corps will be here on Sept 9th & 10th to study the needed flood control work in the Cottonwood Wash area. Mr. Berry reported that he reserved 2 - 5,000 gallon tankers at the surplus warehouse for San Juan County. He also reported that he picked up some winter clothing for the Sheriff's Patrol.

POPULATION REPORT - INACCURATE

A report having been received from the Chairman of of Utah Population Work Committee and it appearing that the figures are not accurate with those tabulated by the local residents, it was decided to check the various areas and use our own totals.

LETTERS RECEIVED

A letter of appreciation was received from the LaSal area, thanking the County for the assistance given in the recreation program. The letter was forwarded to Coach Blake.

A letter was received from Bro. Juniper regarding road improvements in the South end of the County, also suggestions regarding the 90th anniversary of the founding of San Juan County.

A letter was received from the State Division of Water Resources giving notice of a meeting scheduled for Sept. 4th in the Capitol Building where the County Water Conservancy District will attend and representation from the County Commission is requested.

A claim was received from Robert Greymountain and Minnie Greymountain in the amount of $300,000. for damages suffered in the drowning of the 2 young children.

RODENT CONTROL MEETING SCHEDULED

September 10th at 11:00 A. M. is scheduled for meeting with representation from various groups and agencies within the County to further plan the rodent control program.

REPORT ON COUNTY FAIR

Marilyn Rowley and Anne Porter met with the Commission and reported on the County Fair held the previous week. It was suggested that the Fair Committee meet as soon as possible to evaluate the success of this years program and decide changes to be made for next years Fair.

COMMISSIONERS' MEETING TO BE HELD TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2nd.

Monday, Sept. 1st, being a legal holiday, Regular Commissioners' Meeting will be held on Tuesday Sept. 2nd at 10:00 O'clock A. M.
