MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING HELD MARCH 13, 1978

The Minutes were read and approved on a motion from Commissioner Guymon and seconded by Commissioner Boyle
TV
Jim Allred met with the Commissioners to discuss two bids from Television Technology Corporation for TV equipment. The low bid for new equipment on Abajo Peak was for the following:
3 TVF-10 ten watt amplifiers Ch. 8, Ch. 10, and Ch. 13 1,195.00 Total 3,585.00 3 DC-16 directional couplers 14.00 42.00
1 TPXV-3 Combining filter 325.00
This was approved on a motion by commissioner Guymon and seconded by commissioner Boyle
The second bid also by Television Technology Corporation was for the solar power system to operate the new translator site in Bluff.
1 Solar pwoer system to operate 3 ea. T-99 translators near Blanding, Utah assuming 20 hours per day of operation , 1,828.00.
This bid was approved on a motion by Commissioner Guymon and seconded by Commissioner Boyle
Jim gave the report that the TV was good in Blanding, Monticello, Mexican Hat and LaSal. The TV in Montezuma Creek and Bluff was in bad shape.
SENIOR CITIZENS MEETING
Commissioner Guymon reported that he had attended the Senior Citizens Executive Association meeting held in Saint George, Utah. He reported that he had invited them to hold their meeting here in San Juan County next year.
Commissioner Guymon also reported that he had met with Lynn Henke and Al Haskins to get a bid ready to send in to the paper. It was to come out on the 16th and 23 with the bids to be opened on Monday the 27th.
AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT ON AGEING
Mr. Al Haskins met with the commissioners to present an ammended contract on the Aging money. This contract was to take in the aging money that was not spent by the end of the 1977 year. Commissioner Guymon made the motion to have Commissioner Boyle sign the contract. Commissioner Boyle seconded the motion. A copy of this contract is on file in the clerk's office.
DARYLE REDD
Daryl Redd met with the commissioners to discuss building a reservoir on his lands. The main problem concerning the county is that the water will back up over the present graveled county road. The commissioners support rerouting the road so that it goes up over the dam. The commissioners are in favor of this project as long as all the water rights problems, enviromental Impact Statements, and other problems are ironed out and the project is leage.
ENERGY CONSERVATION MEETING
There will be a meeting on the 28th of March of the Energy Conservation Meeting. The people in charge would like to have the Commission Chairman welcome the visitors.
4 CORNERS REGIONAL COMMISSION
Bill Parson, Lynn Henke and All Haskins will meet on Friday, March 17th to discuss the projection on planning for the next year.
CEDAR POINT FIRE STATION
John Baker met with the Commissioners to discuss the Cedar Point Fire Stateion and fire truck. The lot is 60' x 120' and the building is 20' x 40'
Commissioner Boyle met with the San Juan School District to discuss the land for the Cedar Point fire station. The school district will give the land at Cedar Point to the county if the county will take care of the land transfers. They will also lease to the county the area of the Eastland tennis courts for a period of ten years if the County Attorney will draw up the lease agreement.
LETTER FROM UNDC
The Commissioners received a letter and a resolution from UNDC supporting the new road from Bluff to

Mexican Water. This resolution is on file in the Clerks office. CIVIL DEFENSE PROGRAM
Mr. Al Haskins reported to the Commissioners on a routine inspection of our Civil Defense Program by Don Sprattling. He stated that the program is being handled well.

SAN JUAN COUNTY ROAD MEETING HELD MONDAY, MARCH 13, 1978

Bradford, L. Lyman and Lynn Adams.
Minutes were read and approved.
Doug reported plans for Ismay C. R. Project were ready; he set up a preconstruction conference with LaVar Lyman and H. Kirkham for 8:30 A.M. March 14 at the District II ofice.
Ace reported he was working on Brown's Hole bridge and getting ready to start crushing with the primary crusher.
Bernal reported he was blading roads with all the equipment available.
Teek reported he had hired Jimmy Grant and recommended he start at $4.99 for 90 days probation.
Equipment was discussed. It was approved to purchase a new chip spreader. Meeting adjourned.
