MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' MEETING HELD IN REGULAR SESSION ON MONDAY, THE 12th DAY OF MAY, 1969.

Meeting opened at 10:15 O'clock A. M. with Commissioner Hazleton in the Chair.

MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING WERE READ AND APPROVED. Motion for approval was made by Commissioner Black, seconded by Commissioner Young and carried unanimously.

Bruce Stevens discussed the merits of a portable unit for the Blanding Road Departments and the inter-ference that could be caused by mountains.

SHERIFFS' MATTERS & POLICING ON WHITE MESA DISCUSSED

Mr. John St. Clair of the Bureau of Indian Affairs met with the Commission,and with the County Sheriff, discussed future Deputies' assignments within the County.

Mr. St. Clair was not speaking for the Tribe, but he informed the Commission that the Tribe has no res-ponsibility and no obligation on White Mesa as this is not Reservation land but an Allotment or Grant. Future policing of White Mesa was discussed and a proposal will be drawn up for County Approval.

COUNTY EXECUTES QUIT CLAIM DEED

Upon recommendation of the County Attorney, Commissioner Young moved to authorize the Clerk to sign a Quit Claim Deed regarding land in the area of 3rd West between 2nd and 3rd North; Commissioner Black seconded the motion and it carried unanimously.

QUIT CLAIM DEED

San Juan County, a body corporate and politic of the State of Utah, GRANTOR, whose mailing address is 7o County Clerk, Monticello, Utah, hereby Quit Claims to Clarence Mirabal and Beneranda Mirabal, his wife, as joint tenants, GRANTEES, of Monticello, Utah, for the sum of One Dollar ($1.00) the following described real property in San Juan County, Utah, to-wit:

Beginning 321.75 feet north of the Southwest Corner of Block L, Monticello Townsite Survey, and running thence West 36 feet, South 107.25 feet, East 36 feet, South 107.25 feet to the point of beginning.

This Deed is authorized and executed pursuant to a Resolution of the Board of Commissioners of the Grantor at its regular meeting held May 12, 1969.

CUSTODIAN REQUESTS RELEASE

Virgil U. Eastin met with the Commission and stated that he desires to retire shortly, and would like foi them to be seriously considering a replacement for him.

The Commissioners instructed the Clerk to run a notice in the local paper to the effect that they (Com-missioners) will interview anyone interested in applying for the position of Custodian for the County Courthouse.

LETTERS-RECEIVED

The State Land Board replied regarding the area where the unsightly dump ground is located at La Sal Jct.

The B.L.M. replied regarding Canyonlands Access Roads.

A Schedule of events planned for the Governor's visit was received from Mr. Jim Black.

MISSILE FIRING SCHEDULE

Athena Area # 2: The period from 6 P. M. May 22, 1969 to 6 A. M. May 23, 1969 is hereby declared a

firing period.

Blanding Launch Area: The firing period previously scheduled for May 16th at 8 A. M. is hereby cancelled.
